Conference Recap

ICCHE’s Annual Conference was held on February 10-12, 2016 at the Doubletree Hotel in Chicago. Approximately 50 ICCHE members braved the budget woes of their institutions and found a way to participate in the conference. The ICCHE Board was appreciative of the eight sponsors who supported the ICCHE conference. Ray Schroerder, Associate Vice Chancellor, University of Illinois Springfield and Director, Center of Online Leadership at University of Continuing Education Professional Association, Washington, DC presented a Pre-Conference workshop that analyzed the economic developments shaping the field and the opportunities that lay ahead for higher education.

Dr. Terri Winfree, the 14th President of Prairie State College brought extensive experience in higher education and continuing education to share with the ICCHE conference participants. Terri believe strongly in leading with courage, inspiration, and entrepreneurial approaches to challenges in higher education. Her keynote address, Creative Partnerships and Collaboration Equal Success was well received by the audience.

Many ICCHE member-led sessions highlighted the expertise and high level of commitment to education in Illinois. One of the most popular sessions continues to be the roundtable discussions where hot topics and issues of the day are considered by a variety of participants.

Dr. Karen Swan brought the expertise of her research work Understanding Social Presence: The Three Perspectives related to teaching and learning in blended and online classrooms as the final conference keynote. Karen’s latest book will be released soon and will focus on the construct of social presence and research related to this phenomena in the classroom.

The 42nd Annual ICCHE Conference will be held February 8 – 10 at the Doubletree Hotel in Chicago. Call for presentation proposals and award nominations will be solicited in late summer or early fall. We encourage you to take part in the Illinois Continuing and Higher Education (ICCHE) Association and thank all who were able to attend the 41st Annual ICCHE Conference.
