The Office of Continuing Education (OCE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks a Visiting Program Coordinator for Conferences & Institutes. The mission of the Office of Continuing Education is to provide leadership for lifelong learning, distance education and public engagement. Working with faculty and external constituents, the Office of Continuing Education offers a variety of credit and noncredit programs to diverse audiences. The Office of Continuing Education is comprised of three programmatic units: Academic Outreach, Conferences & Institutes, and Robert Allerton Park and Retreat Center.
As a unit of the Office of Continuing Education, Conferences & Institutes designs, plans, and implements noncredit programs in collaboration with members of the University community. Programs are directed toward diverse audiences and address topics that relate to the University’s land grant mission and threefold focus on teaching, research and public engagement. Programs may take many forms -- conferences, seminars, short courses, certificate programs, and annual meetings of professional societies.
The Visiting Program Coordinator will collaborate with a conference administrative team consisting of other academic professionals, OCE support staff, student employees and graduate assistants. This team will plan and coordinate a wide variety of assigned conferences, seminars, institutes, and workshops. This is a 100% full-time, 12-month, academic professional visiting appointment, and reports to the Head of Conferences & Institutes. The appointment may be renewed each year for up to three years; the position may become regular based on performance, programmatic and budgetary considerations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages a portfolio of established programs devoted primarily to continuing professional education and to the dissemination of the products of research and scholarship.
- Develops new programming consistent with the University’s mission.
- Acts as a liaison with faculty and committees to implement project timelines relating to non-credit conferences and similar programs sponsored by the University.
- Maintains an efficient and effective workflow from planning to conference completion and evaluation.
- Monitors conference income and expenses for compliance with budget projections.
- Accountable for revenue and expenses associated with assigned programs.
- Manages established marketing and promotional strategies to advertise programs; creates Web sites and on-line registration sites for conferences and other activities using established templates.
- Ensures completeness and accuracy of copy for brochures, Web sites and other promotional items.
- Works as a liaison between faculty and vendors of conference services to coordinate details for conferences.
- Coordinates arrangements for conference publications, facilities, meals, audio-visual equipment, and other services in connection with conferences.
- Coordinates management of on-site conference activities, including supervision of staff.
- Recommends changes in conference management policies.
- Other related duties as assigned, including unit-wide and campus committee assignments.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with administrators, faculty and a wide range of constituents. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, possess the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and be capable of consistently meeting deadlines. The position requires the ability to build effective interpersonal relationships including the ability to effectively organize and manage a conference team throughout the planning and implementation of programs. Candidates should possess the ability to create and monitor a program budget including tracking revenues and expenditures. A commitment to the concepts and principles of continuing education and professional development is required. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license. Ability to work evening and weekend hours is required. Out of town and occasional foreign travel is required. Candidates should be comfortable using computers and a variety of software programs.
Desirable Qualifications
Previous experience in conference or special event planning, preferably in a university setting. Familiarity with FileMaker Pro. Knowledge of University of Illinois accounting systems.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Proposed starting date: Start date is as soon as possible after closing date.

Duties
The Business Development Manager is responsible for generating revenue by developing, marketing, and implementing customized training programs for the Business & Industry Services. This position functions as a lead generator, promoter, salesperson, and account manager for all customized training programs in which they are the procuring cause. Prospects for new business leads through informational/promotional mailings, advertising, person-to-person selling, trade shows. Secures appointments, makes client presentations, and develops and implements training programs that incorporate strategic solutions for prospective clients. Establishes fees for all courses and programs; recruits, hires, trains, monitors and evaluates instructors and facilitators. Manages contracts, prepares invoices, and maintains a database of projects. Maintains confidentiality of contracts. Attends events and actively participates in associations promoting Business & Industry Services. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Communication supplemented by a minimum of two years experience selling (services environment preferred). Must be a motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit. Must have excellent negotiation, presentation and communication skills. Must be mature, aggressive and results focused with excellent leadership qualities. Must have excellent organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple tasks. Demonstrated consistent record of achievement. Works positively under pressure; fast thinker, can-do attitude; proactive, creative, flexible; detail-oriented; effective listening skills. Must have computer skills including knowledge of Word, WordPerfect, Access and Excel preferred. Must be self-directed and innovative, able to assess current operations in an effort to improve the future goals of the District. Must be able to meet deadlines in a timely manner.

Project Manager/Coordinator
Description:
The training Project Manager is responsible for the planning, monitoring and controlling the execution of assigned projects. The PM is responsible for co-ordination and completion of the project and to this end will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, monitoring and summarizing progress of the project. The Project Manager will be responsible for more than one project at a time. In addition, the Project Manager will determine project deliverables, assist with defining budgets and time-lines, communicate project statuses, proactively manage issues, and work with project teams in the creation of deliverables.

- Interface with all company departments and account executives to identify creative alternatives that will address and resolve any issues and problems. Recommend solutions.
- Prepare and conduct presentations to groups and group members at open enrollment meetings and benefit fairs.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/COORDINATOR OF PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND ASSESSMENT
Lewis University
Lewis University, a Catholic and Lasallian institution, is located 25 miles SW of Chicago.
This is a full-time, faculty position as Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) with 12 credit hour release time for academic administrative responsibilities in the School for Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE). Summer responsibilities included.
Teaching assignment will be in an academic discipline currently supported by the SPCE, such as business, information technology, nursing, applied sociology and political science, health care leadership, and organizational leadership (graduate level) or relevant to a new adult certificate or baccalaureate degree program; 12 credit hours of teaching per academic year (fall and spring semesters).
Qualifications: Applicant must have a doctorate degree; desired areas of expertise through training or experience include adult education, distance learning and instructional technology, and/or curriculum and instruction. College teaching experience is required; college administrative experience is desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills are needed.
